Baihe Dioscorea zingiberensis is a specialty of Baihe County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province. Dioscorea zingiberensis is one of the five characteristic industries of agriculture in Baihe county, and it is also one of the pillar industries to increase farmers' income in this county. Dioscorea zingiberensis, commonly known as "the root of fire vine" and its scientific name is Dioscorea zingiberensis, is a perennial vine with transverse rhizome, brown appearance and yellow meat. Dioscorea zingiberensis is rich in protein, sugar, crude fiber, volatile oil and hormones. It can extract saponin, diene, progesterone and other medical and chemical supplies, and has the reputation of "the mother of hormones" and "medicinal gold". Dioscorea zingiberensis has a long wild history in Baihe County. In 1998, on the basis of full investigation and research, the county party committee and government decided to take the industrialized planting of Dioscorea zingiberensis as one of the economic development strategies of Baihe. By means of "administrative promotion, benefit promotion and typical promotion", the planting area of turmeric in the county reached 140,000 mu in 2003, with an annual output of 100,000 tons of fresh ginger. In 2003, the Dioscorea zingiberensis industry provided an average net income of more than 300 yuan for each ginger farmer and a special tax of 15 million yuan, which has become one of the important sources of farmers' income and financial growth. In order to build the brand of Baihe Dioscorea zingiberensis and establish Baihe County as "the hometown of Dioscorea zingiberensis in China", it has passed the acceptance of AQSIQ in 2004 and formulated a series of standards, which have certain influence in the whole country.
