Zhenping chestnut

Zhenping chestnut is a specialty of Zhenping County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province. In recent years, Zhenping County, relying on the advantages of mountain resources and focusing on the long-term, has always made unremitting efforts to put chestnut development in a prominent position in the forestry economy. Since the implementation of the project of returning farmland to forests in 1999, the county has issued a series of policies and measures to actively promote the follow-up industry cultivation of returning farmland to forests. Through the organic combination of policy guidance, mechanism innovation, science and technology popularization, leading and other measures, we can give full play to their respective advantages and create favorable conditions for the development of chestnut industry. In view of the fact that chestnut varieties are aging, the structure is single, and the output benefit is low, the county forestry bureau actively invited the technical personnel of the Municipal Forest Machinery Center to guide and set up the experimental demonstration base. Through the introduction, testing and popularization of new varieties, 5,500 mu of chestnut orchards were built this spring, 15,000 mu of low-yield chestnut orchards were rebuilt, 12,000 mu of chestnut were grafted, 100 mu of chestnut cutting nursery was built, and a total of 200 mu of chestnut seed breeding bases were built, with a total of 158,000 mu of chestnuts in the county, and a forest by-product processing factory mainly consisting of chestnuts and acorns was built.
