Xishuangbanna grapefruit is a specialty of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Pomelo is commonly known as "big bubble fruit", and Xishuangbanna Dai language is called "Majingzhang" or "Ma Oh". Xishuangbanna is cultivated all over the country, mainly in Jinghong, Olive Dam, Menglun, Mengla and other low-altitude valley basins. Narcissus grandis is a fragrant fruit tree, with strong plants and many branches. It blooms and bears fruit every spring, and the flowers are white and fragrant. The fruit grows singly or in groups of two or three. The fruit shape is oblate or pointed, and the fruit is huge. The weight of a single fruit is between 1 and 3 kilograms. The young fruit is green and bright, and the peel is light yellow or green yellow when it is mature. The skin is smooth, dense with oil glands, containing yellow volatile oil with special smell, and the skin is thick, and the inner layer is spongy and soft. Fruits are resistant to storage and handling, as long as they don't crush the pulp, they won't go bad after ten days and a half. The pulp is multi-petalled, and there are 12-18 petals in a fruit. The pulp in the petals is granular, white and red, sweet or sour. Pomelo fruit with skin contains naringin, aurantium glycoside, neohesperidin, oleanolin -4, glucoside -7, and contains carotene, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C, nicotinic acid, calcium, phosphorus, iron and volatile oil. The pericarp contains 0.3-0.9% of volatile oil. Young fruit tastes sour, and people often use young fruit slices to decoct soup to treat urgency and pain. There are many varieties of pomelo planted in Xishuangbanna, including Shatian pomelo, late white pomelo, etc. The local varieties include Menglun Zaozao, Winter Zaozao, Menghan Pomelo and Mansailong Pomelo. Menglun early, winter trial early belongs to early varieties, and it can be marketed in early autumn. Mansailong pomelo matures late and can be marketed in late autumn and early winter. The pulp is pink, and the taste is slightly sour earlier than Menglun, but the juice is juicy and fleshy. The cultivation area of grapefruit in Xishuangbanna is about 20,000 mu, with an annual output of more than 40,000 tons.
