Futang greenhouse cantaloupe

Futang Village is located at the southwest end of Foluo Town, Ledong County, Hainan Province, with a total population of 1,701. Local farmers took advantage of the "winter greenhouse", introduced greenhouse planting technology, established a demonstration base for cantaloupe production and developed cantaloupe industry, which was known as "the hometown of cantaloupe in Hainan". In 2004, the first greenhouse cantaloupe base was established in Futang village, Foluo town, and soilless culture technology was adopted. By the end of 2008, the total planting area of cantaloupe in Futang Village reached 2,000 mu, with a total output value of 35 million yuan and an average annual net income of 4,300 yuan. At present, the planting area of cantaloupe in greenhouse in Futang Village is 3600 mu, and many new varieties of cantaloupe have been introduced, which has expanded the channels for farmers to increase their income. Ledong County, through government subsidies, discount loans, the establishment of professional associations and other measures, vigorously supported farmers to change from planting cantaloupes in the field to planting cantaloupes in greenhouses, and also allocated a special fund of 3 million yuan to reward large cantaloupes in greenhouses. Up to now, farmers in Ledong County have widely used advanced technologies such as "greenhouse", "plastic film", "water-saving irrigation" and "soilless culture", and mainly planted high-quality varieties such as Zhaojun No.1, "Secret World" and "Japanese Love Network". Nowadays, greenhouse cantaloupe has become an important brand of pollution-free agriculture in Ledong County, and its products are exported to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and other places.
