Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province is the core area of the national production and sales industrial chain and export trade of hardware knives and scissors, and 70% of the products are exported. Hardware knives and scissors are a famous specialty in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, and occupy a place in domestic and foreign trade. In 2002, China Knife City, a professional knife and scissors market with a building area of 20,000 square meters, was built. In 2002, the first China (Yangjiang) International Hardware Knife and Scissors Expo was held, and then the Knife and Scissors Expo was held once a year, which built a broad trading platform for manufacturers, dealers and buyers in the hardware knife and scissors industry and won the extensive participation of Chinese and foreign merchants. In 2008, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and Yangjiang Municipal Government jointly invested 50 million yuan to set up the National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Knives, Scissors and Daily Metal Tools on the basis of Guangdong Hardware Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center located in Yangjiang City. In recent years, Yangjiang knife and scissors industry has developed vigorously. According to the person in charge of Yangjiang Economic and Trade Bureau, by the end of 2008, there were 350 enterprises above designated size, 15 enterprises with an annual output value of 50 million to 100 million yuan, and 11 enterprises with an annual output value exceeding 100 million yuan. The local hardware knife and scissors industry in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, has a long history of more than 1000 years, and occupies a decisive position in China. Since 1998, Yangjiang has successively embraced such national brands as "China kitchen knife center", "China scissors center", "China knife center" and "China knife and scissors machinery manufacturing center". In addition, it has been awarded the titles of "Knife and Shearing Capital of China", "China Hardware Products (Knife and Shearing Tools) Export Base" and "China Knife and Shearing Industry Base" by national authorities. At present, Yangjiang City has initially formed an industrial chain from knife and scissors machinery manufacturing, parts processing, mold manufacturing, heat treatment, electroplating, stainless steel strip smelting and packaging to scientific and technological research and development, business information, logistics and distribution, and technological innovation. Yangjiang knife and scissors industry has gradually formed a production pattern of specialized division of labor, socialized cooperation and common development.
