Citrus in Xikou

Xikou Citrus is a specialty of Xikou Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. The citrus produced in Xikou Town is famous in the whole province for its yellow color, large fruit, crisp, tender and sweet meat. Xikou Town, Shanghang County began to introduce citrus in 1980s, after several varieties improvement and scientific cultivation. At present, the "Lugan No.8" cultivated by the Provincial Institute of Agricultural Sciences for the soil and climate in Xikou Township is famous in the whole province for its yellow color, large fruit, crisp, tender and sweet meat, and has obtained the trademark registration and the certification mark of the pollution-free planting base of the provincial green office. Up to now, more than 5,000 mu of citrus has been planted in Xikou Town, with an annual output of 4,500 tons and an annual output of 18 million yuan. Citrus planting has become one of the important industries for farmers in Xikou Town to increase their income and get rich.
