Caixi navel orange

Caixi navel orange is a specialty of Caixi Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. Caixi Town, a fresh food species mainly planted with Newhall navel orange, is a 10,000-mu navel orange base in Shanghang County. In 2010, "Caixi navel orange" was rated as "Fujian famous brand agricultural product". Caixi is located in the northwest of Shanghang. Since 1993, Newhall navel orange varieties from the United States have been introduced for trial planting in Dapingli, the north village of Caixi Creek. By 1996, it was fully popularized in this town, and it is the base of 10,000 mu navel orange in Shanghang County. The elevation of Caixi River is 280-550 meters, and it is in subtropical monsoon climate, with mild climate and abundant rainfall. Summer is long but not hot, winter is short and not cold, and the annual average temperature is about 18.6 C. The dry and wet seasons are obvious, with annual sunshine of 2043 hours and frost-free period of 272 days. The topography of Caixi River is mainly mountainous and hilly, with a gentle slope. The soil types are mostly red soil and some are brown soil. The soil layer is deep, mostly sandy and loose, and the organic matter content in the surface soil is high. Therefore, the fertile soil is suitable for navel orange cultivation. After many investigations and studies by Wang Zaiming, an expert on cash crops in western Fujian, and Professor Liao Jingsi from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, it is considered that this climatic condition is very suitable for navel orange cultivation. In recent years, Caixi navel orange industry has also made some achievements. In 2003, it registered the trademark "Caixi Navel Orange", was awarded the title of "National Famous and Special Agricultural Products" in 2005, and was certified as "Pollution-free Food" in 2006. In the same year, Caixi Navel Orange was awarded the certificate of "Provincial Quality Fruit". In 2008, preparations for "Green Food" certification began, and at the same time, preparations for "Organic Food" certification began in some fruit farms. In January 2010, it won the title of "Fujian Famous Brand Agricultural Products". At present, the town's planting area is more than 8,000 mu, with an annual output of more than 1,700 tons, mainly distributed in villages such as Xibei, Linghe and Sifang. Except for a small part of navel oranges sold locally, they are basically sold to Xiamen, Longyan, Zhangzhou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Nanjing, Macau, Shanghai and other provinces and cities.
