Youxi Ginkgo biloba

Youxi Ginkgo biloba is a specialty of Youxi County, Sanming City, Fujian Province. The ancient ginkgo forest in Youxi County is the largest ancient ginkgo forest in Fujian Province. Youxi county is the county with the largest number of ancient ginkgo trees in Fujian province, and it has a long history of artificial development and planting ginkgo. According to the investigation, there are 353 existing ancient silver trees, mainly distributed in the good neighbors, Ji 'an, Jianxi and Lianyun, Xiayun, Yunshan and Dongbian villages in Zhongxian Township. Ancient ginkgo trees are generally distributed sporadically. There are 155 ancient ginkgo forests in Longmenchang and Shankeng of Shanlin Village in Zhongxian Township, which is the largest ancient ginkgo group in Fujian Province. According to legend, these two ancient ginkgo trees were planted in the Southern Song Dynasty, and the longest tree age reached more than 800 years. In the highest year, the existing ancient silver trees in the county produced 100 ~ 200 kilograms of dried fruit (ginkgo). After 1980, Youxi County vigorously developed the cultivation of ginkgo trees. By 1999, more than 3,000 mu of ginkgo trees were newly planted in the county, with an annual output of nearly 100 tons of ginkgo. Products sell well in and outside the province, Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia.
