Ningguo chestnut

Ningguo chestnut is a specialty of Ningguo City, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province. Ningguo chestnuts are characterized by high yield, early market, storage resistance and good flavor, with 40 large chestnuts per kilogram. Ningguo has beautiful mountains and beautiful scenery, Tianmu Mountain stands on the southeast edge, and Huangshan Mountain extends into the country from the west, forming a topography with high in the south and low in the north and mountainous peaks. Chestnut resources in Ningguo are very rich, with a wide variety, and there are more than 20 local endemic varieties, among which Tezao, Ruancizao, Erxinzao and Huanglipu are listed as excellent varieties in Anhui Province. Their common characteristics are good high-yield performance, early listing, good storage resistance and good flavor, with 40 large chestnuts per kilogram. The prestigious Sanyuan Dahongpao is characterized by chestnuts with one big, two red and three luminous features. It can be sliced and cooked, and it is a treasure in the banquet. Chestnuts in Ningguo are widely distributed, with an area of over 10,000 mu in 8 towns, including Zhongxi, Shikou, Qiaotou, Pingxing, Ningdun, Honglong, Shiqiao and Meilin. Ningguo chestnut has excellent quality, long listing period, best-selling market and high enthusiasm of chestnut farmers for development. Meilin Town is the main producing area of chestnut in our city, with a planting area of 24,500 mu, including 18,000 mu in full fruit period, with an annual output of 5,000 tons. After investigation, the output value in 2010 was 36 million yuan, with a per capita income of 1,600 yuan. With the continuous development of the market, in recent years, the purchase price of chestnut has been rising year by year. The average purchase price has steadily increased from 2.3 yuan/kg in 2008 to 3.6 yuan/kg this year, with an average annual increase price of 0.45 yuan/kg. Chestnut industry has become an important support for local rural economic development.
