The base boldly practiced and successfully tested "Jin Shuai", "Migui" and "Lvbao" colored seedless watermelons. As soon as colored seedless watermelon came out, it was favored by consumers. In July, 1998, Sunzhuang melon farmers set up melon stalls on both sides of the Sunzhuang section of Mengsu Road, forming a market of their own, with black skin and yellow flesh, crisp fragrance and honey wrapped in sand, adding a beautiful landscape to the provincial road. Seedless watermelon base planting mode adopts seedless watermelon intercropping with cotton, and Agaricus bisporus is planted in melon stubble, and the income is 6000-8000 yuan per mu of land three times a year. In 2000, seedless watermelons reached more than 1,000 mu. Every family in Sunzhuang Village planted melons, and every household sold melons. The roadside of 305 Provincial Highway, the stalls in Mengcheng County, the surrounding markets and the fields of melon sheds were full of melons. Merchants came to buy melons, and melon farmers went out to sell melons. The market was hot and the business was booming. In 2006, Sun Mingkun, an expert planter in Sunzhuang Village, successfully experimented with the rootstock grafting technology of seedless watermelon, that is, in the period when the two leaves of the gourd seedling are in one heart, the head of the gourd seedling is pinched, but two cotyledons are left, a toothpick hole is used on the residual stem, and then the watermelon seedling is rooted, sharpened, disinfected and inserted in a small hole, and the survival rate is 98%. Compared with "docking" technology, "rootstock" grafting technology has the advantages of disease resistance, drought resistance, waterlogging resistance, developed root system, no pruning, no branching, no artificial pollination, time-saving and labor-saving, and the yield per mu can be increased by 40% to 50%.
