Guoyang tobacco

Guoyang Tobacco was first produced in the West Indian Ocean Islands, and was introduced to China in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Tobacco planting in Bozhou began in the third year of Qing Qianlong (1738). Before liberation, Bozhou was a well-known tobacco-producing area with a planting area of several thousand mu. Its varieties include "Citi Tobacco", "Emeiqiao", "Taipingban", "crooked stick" and "Laolaihong", but many of them have been lost today. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the state set up tobacco purchasing stations in counties and districts of Bozhou, which were subordinate to China Tobacco Industry Company. In the 1970s, the planting area in Qiaocheng District reached 120,000 mu, and in the 1980s it was expanded to 240,000 mu, with a yield of 40 million kilograms, accounting for more than 60% of the total output in Anhui Province. It became the main tobacco-producing area in Anhui Province, and the planting and management were standardized. The main varieties are Red Heart No.1, Long Neck Yellow, Laolaihong, Burley Tobacco, Caoxin No.5, Xiangying No.1, Xujin No.4, Pan Yuanhuang and Honghuadajinyuan. Bozhou tobacco is characterized by large leaves, good color, high oil content and strong fragrance, and is the main raw material for producing middle and high-grade cigarettes.
