Jade orange, also known as citrus, is an excellent variety of Rutaceae, and it is one of the three traditional characteristic fruits in Yuhuan County. It has been cultivated for more than 500 years. At present, Yuhuan County has a planting area of 670 hectares, with an output of nearly 10,000 tons and an output value of 60 million yuan. The characteristics of jade orange are as follows: First, it is rich in nutrition and has high medicinal value. The fruit of Jade Orange is moderate in size, juicy, fragrant, sweet and sour, and its color, shape and taste are similar to those of American grapefruit. According to the cooperation between Zhejiang Citrus Research Institute and the University of South Florida, the main nutritional components of Jade Orange are higher than those of American grapefruit, and the main indexes such as naringin 1057PPm, limonin 71PPm and hesperidin 109PPm are higher than those of other oranges. Jade orange can inhibit the activity of reverse transcriptase related to carcinogenesis, significantly improve the activity of glutathione-S-transferase, and has the effect of cancer. At the same time, it can strengthen the blood vessel wall, improve the resistance of capillaries, and prevent hypertension, stroke and other diseases. Second, the thick peel of Jade Orange is resistant to storage and transportation, which is inferior to other wide-skinned oranges. It can be harvested in November and stored indoors at normal temperature for four years in the following year. If fresh-keeping measures are taken, it can be stored in July and August.
