Myrica rubra, native to Huangyan, Zhejiang Province, is famous for its extraordinary cause and effect. In the 1970s, it was named Dongkui Myrica rubra by a professor from Zhejiang Agricultural University, which means "the best in the East". Its fruit is rare in the world, and it is the largest Myrica rubra in China and even in the world, and it is known as "the king of Myrica rubra"! Huangyan Dongkui Yangmei is the main industry in Huangyan, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is also the largest variety of Yangmei in China and even in the world at present. It was originally selected from Yangmei Garden in Dongao Village, Jiangkou Town, Huangyan in the late 1950s, and was gladly named Dongkui Yangmei by Professor Wu Gengmin, a leading horticulturist in China and the former horticulture department of Zhejiang Agricultural University, which means "the best in the East". Dongkui Myrica rubra in Huangyan was named Dongkui Myrica rubra by Mr. Wu Gengmin, the former horticulture department of Zhejiang Agricultural University, which means the best in the East and is one of the important Myrica rubra variety resources in China. The existing cultivation area is about 1300 hectares, and the output in 2005 can reach more than 8000 tons. It is not easy to drop fruit at maturity, and it is resistant to storage and transportation; Myrica rubra is excellent in fresh fruit, canning and processing soju. The fruit is purplish red, thick in meat, juicy and rich in flavor, which is well received by consumers and is a good gift. Dongkui Myrica rubra in Huangyan has a history of more than 100 years, and has developed rapidly in recent decades. Dongkui Myrica rubra has become one of the main varieties in Huangyan. In 1998, Dongkui Myrica rubra was awarded the gold medal for high-quality agricultural products in Zhejiang Province. In 1999, Beijing International Agricultural Fair was recognized as a brand-name product. Our district attaches great importance to quality brands, and is applying for a registered trademark for Dongkui Yangmei. A series of standards for Dongkui Yangmei have been formulated and promulgated. In October, 2001, Huangyan was also named as the "Hometown of Myrica rubra in China" by the State Forestry Administration. Huangyan Dongkui Yangmei is a geographical indication certification trademark.
