It has the functions of quenching thirst, promoting fluid production, promoting digestion, removing dampness, relieving summer heat, keeping out cold, stopping diarrhea, clearing the stomach, inducing diuresis and treating dysentery. As a seasonal fruit in summer, it has always been welcomed by consumers in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Myrica rubra pulp contains 11%-13% sugar, 0.5%-1.2% acid, rich in vitamin C and a certain amount of protein and fat. The eight amino acids contained in Myrica rubra are very beneficial to human health. The calcium, phosphorus and iron in the fruit are several times to more than 100 times higher than those in other fruits. Myrica rubra can be processed into canned sugar water, fruit juice, fruit wine and dried fruit besides fresh food. Myrica rubra is a small evergreen tree with round crown, strong tree nature, drought resistance and barren resistance, and easy cultivation. It is a good tree species for landscaping. Dongkui Myrica rubra originated from Huangyan, which means "the best in the East". It is the largest variety of Myrica rubra with high economic and ecological benefits and has become one of the main varieties of Myrica rubra production in China.
