Jintangsu is famous for its screw. Located in the southwest of Zhoushan Archipelago, the local town is built on an island, with an area of 22,590 mu of cultivated land, including 17,130 mu of paddy field, 5,460 mu of dry land and 57,840 mu of forest, making it the fourth largest island in Zhoushan. Over the past 20 years of reform and opening up, the people of Jintang have always been at the forefront of the tide and have made all-round progress in economic and social undertakings. The land area of the town is 82.4 square kilometers, and the total length of coastline is 60.32 kilometers, which can be used to develop the coastline of deep-water port of 14.50 kilometers. The town has jurisdiction over 46 administrative villages and 2 neighborhood committees with 43,000 people. Jintang Town is the window connecting Zhoushan with the mainland. In 2007, the town achieved a total social output value of 3.685 billion yuan, a total fiscal revenue of 110 million yuan and a per capita net income of 8,987 yuan. Jintang Town has the reputation of being the first town in Thousand Islands. There are 12 islands in the town, with a land area of 82.4 square kilometers, and 12 communities (villages) under its jurisdiction, with an existing population of 42,000. There are 465 enterprises in the town. It is estimated that the output value of enterprises will be 1 billion yuan in 2001, and it will continue to grow at a high growth rate of 25%. The town's economy has formed six pillar industries, mainly including barrel screw, textile machinery, chemical plastics, shipbuilding, garment production and building materials, among which the output of barrel screw accounts for 60% of the national market share, and it is known as the "hometown of screws in China". Plastic machine industrial park was awarded as one of the first characteristic industrial parks by Zhejiang provincial government in August this year. Jintang is one of the important screw industry towns in Zhoushan. Jintang Town enjoys an excellent geographical position, 6.25 kilometers east of Zhoushan Island, with good natural conditions and convenient land and sea transportation. It is 3.5 kilometers south of Beilun Port in Ningbo, with Jintang Waterway in the southeast, Cizi Waterway in the east and Yongjiangkou and Hangzhou Bay in the west. It is the hub of Ningbo Port and Zhoushan Port, and it is an international waterway, with 10,000-ton ocean-going vessels moored at Jintang Ocean. With the rapid development of industrial economy, an industrial system and industrial group with complete categories, such as plastic screw, shipbuilding, plastic chemical industry, knitting machinery, building materials and garment processing, has been initially formed. In particular, the output of plastic screw accounts for about 70% of the country's total, making it the largest plastic screw industry and export base in China, and it is known as the "hometown of screws in China". With the increase of port construction, under the guidance of the development strategy of "prospering port by bridge and strengthening town by port", Jintang plans to build five container ports and one bulk cargo terminal, so as to give full play to the port advantages.
