Songxia umbrella

Songxia Town, located in the north of Ningshao Plain and on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay, is a sub-center of Shangyu, a pilot town for comprehensive reform of small towns in Zhejiang Province, a central town in Zhejiang Province, a famous architectural town in Zhejiang Province, and a nationally famous "China Umbrella City". The town covers an area of 84.8 square kilometers, with 38 administrative villages and 3 communities under its jurisdiction and a permanent population of 108,000. In 2010, the town is expected to realize national tax revenue of 436 million yuan, GDP of 3.48 billion yuan and total industrial output value of 13.5 billion yuan. Songxia town has obvious industrial characteristics, and has formed pillar industries such as umbrella industry, construction, smelting, electrical appliances and clothing. Umbrella industry is the most important characteristic industry in Songxia Town. Since 1960s, Songxia Town has become one of the largest umbrella production and export bases in China after nearly 50 years of development, especially after 30 years of reform and opening up. It has successfully held the first and second China Umbrella Festival and China Songxia Umbrella Expo. There are more than 1,260 umbrella-making enterprises in the town, employing more than 45,000 people, with an annual output of nearly 500 million umbrellas of all kinds. The national market share is about 25%, the annual output value exceeds 7 billion yuan, and the annual foreign trade delivery value exceeds 3.8 billion yuan, making it a local pillar industry and enriching the people.
