Dugua

Trichosanthes kirilowii, a traditional Chinese medicine, commonly known as bitter gourd, is a traditional Chinese medicine in Pinghu, and its peel, kernel and root block can all be used as medicine. Pinghu Dugua has the characteristics of large melon, thick skin, thick seeds and high fat content. According to the identification of Nanjing Pharmaceutical College and Shanghai Institute for Drug Control in 1986 and 1987, "Pinghu Fructus Trichosanthis" is a genuine product, which is an authentic medicinal material rich in triterpenoid soaps, organic acids, sugars and pigments. Its root block (natural medicinal powder) has been tested by Dr. Yang Xianrong of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and can be used to extract pollen protein to treat AIDS.
