White jade snail

Yuxin Town, Nanhu District is located in the south of Jiaxing City. Since 1987, it has been engaged in white jade snail breeding. After 15 years of development of breeding technology and marketing channels, it currently has more than 1,200 snail farmers, with a field area of 200 mu and a greenhouse of 8,000 square meters, with an annual output of 2,000 tons. It is the largest white jade snail breeding base in China, accounting for more than 60% of the national total output. In 2001, it was awarded the title of "Snail" in the selection of characteristic towns in the province. White jade snail is a high-protein and low-fat nutritional health food, which contains 42.9% protein and 31.2% various amino acids. Its nutritional value is comparable to that of wild tortoise and turtle pills, and it has a variety of medicinal values, so it is known as one of the four famous dishes in the world. White jade snail farming is a new agricultural industry developed in recent years. Generally, the field output is about 2,000-2,500 kg/mu. According to the current average market price of 5 yuan/kg, the output value per mu can reach 10,000-12,500 yuan, and the net income is 8,000-10,000 yuan/mu. In order to accelerate the development of this high-efficiency and characteristic agricultural product, Yuxin Town of Xiucheng District cooperated with Zhejiang Science and Technology Department to establish Yuxin Town White Jade Snail Breeding Center, which implements unified snail breeding, develops snail products, enhances snail value, further promotes the healthy and stable development of snail industry, and strives to make Yuxin Town White Jade Snail enter the international market.
