Yueqing oyster

Yueqing Oyster is a specialty of Qingjiang Town, Yueqing City, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Qingjiang Town is adjacent to Yueqing Bay in the east, and oyster breeding conditions are unique. Qingjiang Town in Yueqing City is the "Hometown of Oysters in China". Qingjiang Town is rich in marine resources and has a long history of oyster breeding. It is the national oyster pilot breeding base. In 1979, the Pacific oyster species introduced from Japan for the first time in China was successfully cultivated in the Qinghai-Jianghai area. At the same time, the new three-dimensional culture mode such as scaffolding has obvious advantages over the traditional culture mode, which enabled the oyster industry to develop rapidly and spread to coastal provinces. At the same time, the full artificial breeding technology of oysters and the local characteristics of anti-wind and wave longline hanging culture technology have been successfully developed in Qingjiang. The culture area has greatly expanded to the offshore area of Qingjiang, and the population structure of oysters has fundamentally changed. Pacific oysters with large individuals and high yield have become the dominant species in Yueqing Bay. Qingjiang Town has established an oyster breeding association around oyster products, and established a relatively complete industrial key integrating seed production, processing and refrigeration, product storage and transportation, scientific and technological research, brand promotion and trade association management. In 2004, the oyster culture area in this town was 10,500 mu, with an annual output of 19,000 tons and an output value of 35 million yuan, accounting for 52% of the total fishery output value in this town.
