Wenyujin

【 Source 】 It is the rhizome of Curcuma wenyujin y.h. Chen et c.ling, a ginger plant. [Medicinal Materials] Curcuma wenyujin is oval, oval or spindle-shaped, with a length of 4-8 cm and a diameter of 2.5-4.5 cm. The tip is long and sharp, and the base is sharp or round. The surface is grayish brown to dark brown, rough, the upper part is raised, the base has sunken fibrous root marks, the bud marks and lateral rhizome marks are not obvious, and there are knife cuts. It is hard and heavy, with yellowish brown or yellowish gray, horny, and punctate or striped vascular bundles. [Distribution] Cultivated or wild. Born in sunny and humid fields or on the edge of ditches. Mainly produced in Ruian, Zhejiang. [Picking] Dig the rhizome in late winter and early spring, remove the fine roots, wash the soil, boil for about 2 hours, take it out and put it on a bamboo curtain to dry. [Ingredients] The rhizome contains volatile oil, among which sesquiterpene compounds such as curcumol, curclione and β-elemene are effective anticancer components.
