Pteridium aquilinum (L.), also known as fist vegetable, is a perennial herb. Born in sunny slopes or forests with wet, fertile and thick soil layers at an altitude of 200-1200m, barren hills and slopes grow most vigorously. It is distributed all over the country. Liupanshan and its surrounding areas are widely distributed, with abundant reserves. The estimated annual output is about 100t, and the current utilization rate is only about 15%. According to the analysis, every 100g of fresh bracken leaf bud contains 10.0g of carbohydrate, 1.6g of protein, 0.4g of fat, C35.00mg of vitamin C, 24.00mg of Ca, P29.00mg of P, 6.70mg of Fe and 1.68mg of carotene. Pteridium aquilinum can be used as a whole plant medicine, which has the effects of expelling wind, promoting diuresis, relieving fever, and treating proctoptosis. It is a traditional mountain dish in China, Korea and Japan. It is collected from early May to mid-June every year, and the edible part is young leaf buds rolled by fists. It is best to eat when the leaf buds are about to stretch out, but it can't be eaten when the "slap" is extended.
