The blue crab in Andong is a specialty of Andong Town, Cixi City, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. The blue crab in Andong, Cixi has the characteristics of big size, delicious taste and long vitality in dry transportation, so it has strong market competitiveness. There are wild blue crabs in Andong and Chongshou areas of Cixi City, which breed in the seashore. Blue crab, short and wide breastplate, with no long spines on both sides, is turquoise. Living in the warm shallow sea with low salinity, when the water temperature drops to about 7℃ to 8.5℃, the blue crab stops feeding and enters a dormant or burrowing state. Since the early 1990s, Cixi City has made great efforts to develop the breeding industry of blue crabs by using the resources of wild blue crabs in the shallow sea of Hangzhou Bay, and the breeding area has been continuously expanded, and the breeding output has increased year after year. By the end of 2000, the breeding area of the city's blue crabs had reached 64,000 mu, with an output of more than 1,900 tons and an output value of nearly 100 million yuan. As the main breeding area, Andong Town accounts for 42% and 39% of the city's breeding area and output, so Andong Town was named "the hometown of blue crabs" by the provincial fishery authorities.
