Yuyao turtle

Yuyao soft-shelled turtle is a specialty of Yuyao City, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Yuyao soft-shelled turtle has bright appearance, smooth, thick and elastic skirt, less body fat and natural yellow color, strong sports ability and high quality, which is close to that of wild soft-shelled turtle. Yuyao soft-shelled turtle is a national product protected by geographical indications of agricultural products. Yuyao is located in the easternmost part of China on the 30 ~ (th) latitude line. The Yaojiang River system in China is a closed water system with more than 30 tributaries, criss-crossing, woven into a water network, and there are many Hutang reservoirs, but it only meets the Fenghua River system in Ningbo and goes straight to the sea at the Sanjiangkou of Yongjiang River, and has no intersection with other fresh water systems. There are the most superior natural conditions suitable for turtle growth, and the development of turtle culture has unique advantages. Yuyao turtle breeding has a long history, but the real rapid development of artificial breeding is in the 30 years after the reform and opening up, especially in the recent 20 years. Yuyao turtle industry has entered a new era of standardization, improvement and strength. Since 2002, Yuyao City has taken the lead in the research and experiment of ecological turtle nesting in ponds. After the technology is mature, it has successively carried out research on turtle nesting technology in shrimp ponds, farmland and large water surface. By 2013, the city has built eight characteristic turtle breeding modes, including fish pond nesting, shrimp pond nesting and farmland nesting. Among them, the modes of shrimp pond intercropping, water bamboo field intercropping and reservoir stocking have also risen to the local standards of Ningbo and have been promoted throughout Ningbo. At present, the ecological turtle nesting area in the city exceeds 30,000 mu, and the annual output value exceeds 300 million. In 2011, Yuyao was awarded the title of "Hometown of Ecological Turtles in China". Yuyao turtle sales network has covered 32 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions except Tibet, forming an industrial development pattern based on ecological farming, guided by market demand, relying on brand characteristics, and aiming at improving industrial management level and farmers' economic income. In 2013, the "Yuyao Turtle" declared by Yuyao Aquatic Products Technology Extension Center passed the examination and organized expert review by the Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, and implemented the registration and protection of national agricultural products geographical indications. The geographical protection scope of Yuyao soft-shelled turtle's producing area: Yangming Street, Fengshan Street, Lanjiang Street, Lizhou Street, Ditang Street, Langxia Street, Huangjiabu Town, Linshan Town, Simen Town, Xiaocao 'e Town, Moushan Town, Mazhu Town, Hemudu Town, Lubu Town, Zhangting Town, Sanqi Town, Dayin Town, Liangnong Town, Dalan Town and so on.
