It is known as "ginseng in water" and is the first choice for Ninghai children to start a meatless diet. Ninghai has a local custom of eating jumping fish to end a meatless diet, and children fall on their heads. There is also a saying among the people that "the meat-eating dolls eat jumping fish, and there is a surplus in life." The meat-ending ceremony not only inherits the traditional customs of Ninghai, but also has a beautiful meaning and expectation for the baby, which contains parents' good wishes for their children. Jumping fish farming has become a new rich industry for local farmers in Yuexi Township. Yuexi Township is a strong aquaculture township in Zhejiang Province. The aquaculture area is located in Sanmenwan Baili aquaculture zone, with superior hydrological conditions. More than 95% of the seawater quality reaches Grade II or III, ranking among the top coastal counties and cities in China. Breeding varieties include blue crab, swimming crab, Penaeus vannamei, silver bug, mudskipper, razor clam and so on. The large-scale mudskipper culture in Yuexi Township began in 2005, and the current culture area is 1,500 mu, making it the largest large-scale mudskipper culture base in the province, with an annual output of 75 tons and an output value of more than 6.7 million yuan. Since the first fish jumping festival in 2008, the brand of aquatic products in Yuexi Township has become more and more famous, attracting a large number of merchants to purchase and driving farmers to increase their income. It is understood that from January to September this year, Yuexi achieved an output value of 210 million yuan of mariculture, up 20% year-on-year, and the total marine economy has accounted for more than 85% of the total agricultural economy.
