Hongze Lake is located in the south of Peiwei Town, Siyang County, Jiangsu Province. My town has a coastline of 22 Li. It is a shallow lake. Because it is developed on the alluvial plain in the middle reaches of Huaihe River, the lake bottom is shallow and flat, with a gentle bank slope. The water depth is generally less than 4 meters, the maximum water depth is 5.5 meters, and the average water depth is 1.5 meters. The lake bottom is 4-8 meters higher than the eastern Subei Plain, so it is also called "Hanging Lake". Hongze Lake used to be a depression with poor drainage, and then it accumulated water into many small lakes. In the Qin and Han dynasties in China, they were called "Fuling" lakes. Among them, Hongze Lake is the largest, with an area of 2069 square kilometers, making it the fourth largest freshwater lake among the five largest freshwater lakes in China. The whole shape of Hongze Lake is like a swan holding its head high and spreading its wings. The scenery is magnificent. Looking at it, the lake is thousands of miles long, and the vast lake is sparkling. Under the reflection of the lake, the sky is blue. Aircraft, boats and fishing boats from the south to the north shuttled by, with hundreds of battles, dancing in Qian Fan and gathering in Sha Ou. Sometimes they sang loudly, sometimes they rushed to the blue sky, and sometimes they circled around the boat. With the beautiful cries of water gulls, bursts of fishing songs played a wonderful "Water Symphony". The source of Hongze Lake water, except atmospheric precipitation, mainly depends on river water. The rivers flowing into Hongze Lake are concentrated in the west of the lake, including Huaihe River, Suihe River, Bianhe River and Anhe River. Sanhe and Subei irrigation canal are the main rivers that Hongze Lake discharges into the Yangtze River and into the sea. Historically, Hongze Lake has a saying of "fighting for gold at sunrise", and aquatic resources are very rich, which is a precious wealth given to us by nature. Hongze Lake has clear water, lush aquatic plants and abundant aquatic resources, including 81 species of aquatic higher plants, 67 species of fish, 76 species of benthic animals and 194 species of birds, among which 4 species belong to the national first-class key protection and 26 species belong to the second-class key protection. The aquatic plants in Hongze Lake are also very famous. Reed is almost all over the lake, and even ships are difficult to sail in lush places. Lotus root, gorgon euryale fruit and water chestnut are well-known in history, and there was a saying that "the head of a chicken and water chestnut are half a year's grain". There are nearly 100 kinds of freshwater fish in the lake, such as carp, crucian carp, bighead carp, green grass and silver carp, as well as aquatic products such as crabs and prawns in Hongze Lake. Fish, shrimp, and crabs taste delicious because they have no fishy smell, especially lobster, which is well-known at home and abroad.
