Lingkou Town is known as the "hometown of radishes". The white radishes cultivated in its unique sandy soil are sweet, crisp and nutritious, and have the functions of relieving cough, resolving phlegm, removing dryness, promoting fluid production, cooling and detoxifying, promoting qi circulation and dredging intestines. There is a saying that "radishes are on the market, and doctors have nothing to do". Lingkou dried radish is a well-known local product in Danyang, and its production technology has been recognized as a local intangible cultural heritage. It is salty, sweet, crisp and tender, fragrant, and can not be stored for a long time. Regular eating can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, stimulate appetite, and help digestion. It is a good accompaniment to porridge. In 1930s, Lingkou dried turnips became famous far and wide. In 1951, Lingkou Town opened a state-run dried radish processing factory-Lingkou Pickling Factory in Danyang City. In 1995, it was renamed as Danyang Rong Yuan Food Co., Ltd., which is a leading agricultural enterprise in Zhenjiang City. Today, its series of dried radish products have a high reputation in Japanese, Hong Kong and Southeast Asian markets.
