Macrobrachium rosenbergii is a specialty of Gaoyou City, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Gaoyou City is the only "National Demonstration Zone of Macrobrachium rosenbergii Standardized Culture". At present, the shrimp culture area in the city accounts for more than 1/4 of the national culture area, with an annual output of about 40,000 tons, which has become one of the pillar industries for farmers to get rich. Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province is located in the Yangtze River Delta and Lixiahe region. The ancient and busy Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through the north and south, and it is known as the land of fish and rice. The aquatic products are very rich, and Macrobrachium rosenbergii (hereinafter referred to as "Luoxia") is a major feature of Gaoyou aquatic products. The culture of Luoxia in Gaoyou started in 1993 and has been developed for 20 years. Now, the culture area of Luoxia is about 140,000 mu, mainly concentrated in the towns of Situ, Longqiu, Mabeng, Zhoushan, Sanduo, Ganduo and Hengjing. The output accounts for about 20% of the national total output and the annual output value is more than 2 billion. It is one of the pillar industries of Gaoyou agriculture. In order to get Luo shrimp on the market as soon as possible and sell it at a good price, Gaoyou developed the technology of raising seedlings in boiler greenhouse. At the end of February every year, farmers start to release shrimp seedlings, but the temperature is too low, and under normal circumstances, shrimp seedlings can't survive at all. Farmers dig a long pool in the shrimp pond, put a hot water pipe connected to the boiler in the pool for heating, and build a greenhouse on it, so that shrimp seedlings can survive and grow in a warm greenhouse even if the cold wind outside the greenhouse howls in February. These seedlings were cultivated in the boiler shed, commonly known as "boiler seedlings". Until mid-May, when the temperature rises above 20 degrees, shrimp seedlings can grow normally in the natural state, farmers will tear down the greenhouse and fill the pond with water, which is commonly known as "enlarged water" by locals. If the survival rate of boiler seedlings is low and shrimp seedlings are insufficient, another batch of seedlings can be released at this time, which is commonly known as "big water seedlings". By releasing boiler seedlings and flooded seedlings, the density of shrimp seedlings generally reaches 60,000-80,000/mu, and the seedlings will not be released in the future, and the culture will enter the peak period. Gaoyou Luoxia produces shrimp 8-10 times a year, the first time is around June 20th, and then it will be produced almost every half month, and it will be dried in the pond at the beginning of October. At present, the normal yield per mu is about 750 kg.
