Jinghe watermelon

Jinghe watermelon is a specialty of Jinghe Town, Baoying, Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. With a fleet full of watermelons sent from the agricultural comprehensive development of 10,000 mu watermelon park in Jinghe Town, Baoying County to large and medium-sized cities such as Shanghai and Hangzhou in China, it marks that the production and sales of "Jinhe" brand are booming this year, and farmers in the project area deeply feel the tangible benefits brought to them by the comprehensive agricultural development to promote industrial restructuring. Watermelon planting began as early as 1985 in Jinghe Town, Baoying County. Due to the constraints of inconvenient road traffic, supporting irrigation and drainage systems, single variety and other factors, the planting area is not large and the benefits are relatively low. After the fifth phase of comprehensive agricultural development brought Jinghe Town into the development project area, a total of 3,669,600 yuan was invested in development, including 2,703,200 yuan in financial funds. Through development, the village roads have been implemented, high-standard irrigation and drainage facilities have been built, and the "five-oriented" standards of road hardening, ditch lining, facility assembly, operation mechanization and farmland forest network have been basically realized in the project, creating conditions for planting pollution-free watermelons in a large area. The watermelon planting area in Datong Village and Songzhu Village of the project has doubled in the past two years, and the watermelon planting in greenhouse has spread from the first five villages to 15 villages in the town, with a planting area of more than 5,000 mu. The income of farmers has been greatly increased. The core of the project is nearly 1000 mu, and the per capita income of watermelon planting is more than 500 yuan. The "Jinhe" brand watermelons in this town were approved as pollution-free products by the province in 2002, and Jinghe Watermelon Garden was listed as Yangzhou Characteristic Demonstration Park and the high-quality watermelon production base determined by Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
