Shangzhuang tomato

Shangzhuang tomato is a specialty of Shangzhuang Town, Yandu District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. Tomatoes in Shangzhuang, Yandu are bright and pleasing to the eye, large and well-proportioned, smooth in taste, moderately sweet and sour, and deeply loved by consumers. Tomato in Shangzhuang greenhouse was planted in the early 1980s, and it has a history of more than 20 years. At first, it was planted sporadically in Shangnan, Nanji and other villages in this town. With the passage of time, greenhouse tomatoes are gradually accepted by farmers in the town and become a pillar industry in the town. There are more than 10,000 mu of tomato planting area in greenhouses in the town, and there are more than 3,000 farmers. The annual output of high-quality tomatoes is nearly 80,000 tons, achieving an output value of more than 95 million yuan, and the per capita income of farmers is more than 700 yuan. Hongfeng tomato is produced in the tomato base of 10,000 mu greenhouse in Shangzhuang town, covering the whole town and radiating the surrounding towns along Buhu Road. It is one of the four pillar agricultural industries in Shangzhuang town and was listed as one of the 50 key agricultural projects in Yandu District in 2004. The base has passed the demonstration of pollution-free agricultural products quality and production environment. Hongfeng tomatoes yield 12,000-14,000 Jin per mu, and the net income per mu is 7,000-8,000 yuan. Based on the leading enterprises in Shangzhuang-Yancheng Hongfeng Vegetable Company and Shangzhuang Agricultural Products Wholesale Market, Hongfeng tomatoes are mainly sold in Yancheng and exported to large and medium-sized cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing and Wuxi.
