Guannan yam

Guannan yam is a specialty of guannan county, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. Guannan county yam is authentic and pure, with clean and crisp meat, delicate taste and excellent health care effect. Guannan county has a history of planting Chinese yam for more than 100 years. Because the county is located in the transition area from warm temperate zone to subtropical zone, the climate conditions are superior, the temperature and light resources are abundant, and the soil is rich in potassium, and the water and soil are pollution-free. In addition, supplemented by scientific cultivation techniques, the produced Chinese yam is authentic and pure, the meat is clean and crisp, the taste is delicate, and the health care effect is excellent. In recent years, due to the increasing demand for yam products in domestic and foreign markets, the market price has continued to rise, and the planting benefit is very considerable. In general, the net benefit per mu is about 3,000 yuan, which is four times that of grain growing. In 2004, the planting benefit per mu was as high as more than 5,000 yuan. At present, the yam in this county has become one of the main vegetable bases in our province, and its products are exported to Japan, South Korea and other places, which are well received by merchants. At present, the planting area of yam in the county has grown to 31,000 mu, mainly concentrated in towns and villages such as Garden, Sankou, Bailu and Xiaoyao, with an annual output of more than 46,000 tons of fresh yam. The planting income in 2004 alone will reach 155 million yuan. At present, two brands of pollution-free Huai yam and Hedang yam have been created, and one brand of green food Luyun yam has been created, with an annual output of about 38,000 tons of pollution-free Huai yam and 8,000 tons of green Huai yam.
