Huai pigs were introduced to the hilly areas of Ning, Zhen and Yang one by one, and formed into mountain pigs after long-term cultivation. Later, with the development of coastal areas, Huai pigs moved eastward, and gradually formed kitchen pigs adapted to coastal saline areas. Appearance characteristics: the whole body is covered with fur, black and dense, and brown fluff is born in winter; The wrinkles on the cheeks of the head are shallow and few, showing a diamond shape; The nozzle is long and straight; Ears are big and drooping; Medium-sized and compact, with a narrow and flat back and waist, a few dimples, a tight abdomen and no mopping; The limbs are tall and strong; The number of nipples of sows ranges from 7 pairs to 10 pairs. In the late 1970 s, due to the extensive promotion of Xinhuai pigs in Huaibei area, most of the local Huaihai pigs were replaced by Xinhuai pigs and their hybrids. By 1987, the central production areas of Huai pigs were mainly concentrated in Ganyu, Yizheng, Gaoyou, Liyang, Gaochun, Dongtai and Dafeng, and the number of sows ranked second among local sows in the province.
