Haimen is located at the southern end of the Yellow Sea and the north bank of the Yangtze River estuary, with flat coastal beaches, mild climate, rich water quality and suitable salinity, which provides a good habitat for cultivating laver. Therefore, the quantity of Porphyra yezoensis produced in Haimen is of high quality, and the dried Porphyra is exported to more than 5,000 TEUs every year, which are exported to Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia and other countries. Porphyra is very nutritious. Every 100 grams of dried laver contains 28-35g of protein, 48.5g of carbohydrate, 200mg of fat, 343mg of calcium, 1mg of VC, 5.1mg of niacin, 457mg of phosphorus, 1.23mg of carotene and 2.07mg of riboflavin, and is rich in various amino acids.
