Haian cocoon and silk

There are unique natural conditions for developing sericulture production in Hai 'an. The county has put into production 160,000 mu of mulberry fields, raised 470,000 silkworm eggs and produced 390,000 tons of cocoons throughout the year, ranking first in the country for three consecutive years, making it a famous "hometown of cocoon and silk" in China. At present, the county has formed a one-stop production and management system of seed production, mulberry planting and sericulture, cocoon collection and drying, silk reeling, silk spinning, silk weaving and clothing. It has an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of high-quality cocoon, 2,500 tons of white silk, 40 million meters of silk products and 8 million pieces of clothing. Last year, 110,000 farmers in the county participated in sericulture, and the cocoon income exceeded 370 million yuan. This alone, the average household income was more than 3,200 yuan. Planting mulberry and sericulture has become a "rich industry" in Hai 'an.
