Since 1985, the trial planting of grapes has been introduced in Shenxiang District of Qigan Village, Dongbang Town. After more than 20 years' development, it has gradually expanded from the initial five households with more than 10 mu to the present 719 mu, including 520 mu of grapes in the rich period. The varieties have developed from a single giant peak to many varieties such as Giant Rose, Xiangyue, Xiahei, Huangmi, Fujimino, Hongfutu and Giant Peak. In June 2006, in order to expand the development of grape industry and form brand advantages, with the help of the government and relevant departments, the Shenxiang Grape Professional Cooperative in Dongbang Town, Changshu City was established. Up to now, 206 members have joined the club, and the grape planting area is 537.8 mu. Cooperatives organize members to go out to visit and study, and learn the advanced experience of developing grape industry in our brother units and other places; Organize grape growers to train on high-quality grape cultivation and integrated pest control techniques; Formulate the operation rules of pollution-free grapes, strictly regulate the vineyard construction, soil, fertilizer and water management, pruning and fruit thinning, bagging cultivation, pest control and other aspects, and carry out pollution-free production of grapes; Design grape packaging boxes, promote Shenxiang grapes to the outside and organize grape sales. The grapes produced in the base have passed the pollution-free certification of the National Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Center, and have done a lot of work in exploring and demonstrating high-quality and high-efficiency grape cultivation techniques suitable for the local area, helping farmers master the high-quality and high-efficiency grape cultivation techniques and forming industrial advantages by brand sales of grapes. Shenxiang grapes are famous for their high quality and low price, and they have a high reputation in Changshu and surrounding large and medium-sized cities. The grapes produced in the base are in short supply. In 2006, the output value of 520 mu of grapes reached more than 7 million yuan, and the average benefit per mu exceeded 10,000 yuan.
