"Wangzhuang Watermelon" is a traditional agricultural product in Shang Hu Town, which is famous for its "thin skin, juicy, sweet taste, refreshing and crisp taste". As early as 1950s and 1960s, Wangzhuang Watermelon enjoyed a high reputation, especially in East China such as Shanghai, Suzhou and Nanjing. At that time, only varieties such as Huadong No.6 and Jiefanggua were planted. Driven by the great adjustment of agricultural industrial structure in 1998, Wangzhuang watermelon developed rapidly, built a base, created a brand and increased benefits. The base covers Fushou Village, Hejin Village and Jiaxin Village, with a total area of 500 mu. Watermelon in Wangzhuang has become the highlight of agricultural production and the hot spot of increasing farmers' income. Xinjiang Xinjia (red meat with flower skin) and Xin Jing No.1 (red meat with green skin) were introduced to the base; Taiwan Province Xiaolan (with yellow skin and red meat), early spring Hongyu (with red skin and red meat) and other high-quality watermelon varieties, and hired experts from the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences as watermelon planting technical consultants to provide technical guidance all the year round, paying attention to increasing scientific and technological investment in the process of watermelon planting, including soil treatment supporting technologies for high-quality watermelon cultivation; Fertilizer and water operation technology to improve food quality; Pest control technology to avoid pesticide pollution; And carry out the specification and standard work of postpartum grading treatment to ensure the quality of watermelon. Wangzhuang Watermelon was awarded "Suzhou Brand Product" in 1999, "Recommended Commodity" in 2000, "Safe Food" in 2001, and was recognized as a "pollution-free agricultural product" by Jiangsu Agriculture and Forestry Department in 2002. Wangzhuang Watermelon Base was recognized as a "pollution-free base" by Jiangsu Pollution-free Agricultural Product Certification Center. In 2006, it was recognized as "green food" by China Green Food Development Center.
