In history, there were tens of thousands of sheep raised in Suzhou, and there were nearly 10,000 sheep at the peak of dongshan town, so the Hu sheep became a veritable characteristic breed in Suzhou. Dongshan Lake Sheep is a trademark of geographical indication.
