Fengjing pig is one of Taihu pig breeds, with Fengjing Town of Jinshan County (Jinshan District) at the junction of Shanghai and Zhejiang as its origin and distribution center for young pigs. The production area is located in the subtropical zone, with mild climate, abundant rainfall and high crop yield, which is one of the famous agricultural high and stable yield areas in China. Mainly distributed in Jinshan, Songjiang, Wujiang and other places. [1] Breed characteristics: Fengjing pig, in Fengjing area, with all black fur and purple belly (or bluish gray), has a breeding history of more than 100 years. In 1985, there were more than 7,000 sows in Fengjing county, accounting for 1/3 of the total number of pigs. [2] Physical characteristics Fengjing pig bones are between Meishan pig and Mi pig. The head is large and wide, the forehead wrinkles are many and deep, the ears are extra large, soft and drooping, and the tips of the ears are flush with or beyond the corners of the mouth, shaped like a big cattail leaf fan. The whole body is covered with black or bluish gray hair, which is sparse and dense, with a large distance between the hairs. The abdominal skin is mostly purple, and there are also white noses or white tail tips. 0 is symmetrical, and the number of 0 is mostly 16 ~ 18. There is a black spot at the bottom of 0, which is called "clove milk". [1-2] Variety performance Fengjing pig is a good variety with both meat and fat, and its meat is delicious. Early maturity, good motherhood, more litters, rough feeding tolerance and strong adaptability. Adult sows have about 14 litters per litter. [2] Adult boars weigh 152.75 10.06 kg, have a body length of 150.57 3.75 cm, a chest circumference of 124.0 3.10 cm and a body height of 75.14 2.49 cm, and adult sows are 125.76 1.80 kg, 143.58 0.66 cm and 114 respectively. [1] Geographical Indications According to the Administrative Measures for Geographical Indications of Agricultural Products, Shanghai Jinshan Agricultural Society applied for the protection of geographical indications of agricultural products of Fengjing Pig. After preliminary examination, expert evaluation and publicity, the registration procedures and conditions of geographical indications of agricultural products were met, and the Ministry of Agriculture decided to grant registration on August 3, 2012. [3] Scope of protection: Fengjing, Zhujing, Luxiang and Zhangyan, Jinshan District, Shanghai, with 53 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
