Gu embroidery is a magnificent and wonderful work among handicrafts in Shanghai. Gu Embroidery was named after it originated from a famous family in Songjiang Prefecture in Ming Dynasty. Gu Mingshi once built a garden on Luxiangyuan Road, a nine-acre site, and got a stone through the pool. Zhao Wenmin carved the word "Luxiangyuan Pool" by hand. Because of the famous garden (now Luxiangyuan Road is named to commemorate this garden), his home embroidery is called "Luxiangyuan Embroidery" or "Gushi Luxiangyuan Embroidery" or "Luxiangyuan Embroidery" for short. It is a painting embroidery based on famous paintings, which is famous for its exquisite technique, elegant form and high artistry. In the late Ming Dynasty, Gu Embroidery in Luxiang Garden, Shanghai County, Songjiang Prefecture was an elegant embroidery art, which had a profound influence on later generations. Four famous embroideries in Qing Dynasty benefited from Gu Embroidery. The secret of Gu embroidery in Ming Dynasty mainly lies in the author's cultural and artistic self-restraint, elegant theme, the integration of painting and embroidery, fine materials, flexible and innovative stitches, and the spirit of choosing a date for embroidery and perseverance. Gu embroidery, represented by Han Ximeng, has been handed down from ancient times, with profound cultural and artistic connotations. It is a treasure of cultural relics and is collected by major museums.
