Huma County is the only agricultural production county in Daxing 'anling region, located in the humus black soil belt of Heilongjiang River Basin, with fertile soil, soft soil and high potassium content, which provides favorable conditions for potato production. Higher yield can also be obtained under common cultivation conditions. The potato produced has high yield and good quality. Huma County is located at 51 degrees north latitude, and it has a unique geographical advantage to grow potatoes. However, for a long time, the potato crops harvested by farmers in Huma County have not been industrialized. In March 2000, Huma Branch of Lixue Company in Daxinganling, a large potato processing enterprise, settled in Huma County. In October of that year, a modern production line with an annual output of 70,000 tons of potatoes and 10,000 tons of refined starch was put into production. Driven by leading enterprises, Huma County has made every effort to promote the development of potato industry, and has invested 5 million yuan in order to speed up the potato seed potato and commercial potato base. In addition, the county has formulated a number of preferential policies to actively support farmers to grow potatoes with high starch content. The preferential funds and policies have promoted the enthusiasm of farmers to plant potatoes. In 2002, the potato planting area in the county reached 52,000 mu, an increase of 30,000 mu over the previous two years, and the total potato output increased by 32,000 tons over 2000. Huma potato has a high yield and good quality, and Huma Branch of Lixue Company in Daxing 'anling uses it to produce it. The starch products produced have been recognized as safe, high-quality and nutritious green food by China Green Food Association, passed the IMO organic food inspection in Switzerland, and won the honors of Heilongjiang specialty, Heilongjiang famous brand product and the best-selling green food in China. In 2003, the products were recognized as pollution-free food. "Lixue" brand series products sell well in more than 20 provinces and cities in China, and are exported to international markets such as South Korea and Japan.
