giant silkworm

Wild silkworm is a very rare species in nature, which can nest green silk all over the world. Ning 'an is one of the few wild silkworm producing areas in China. Wild silkworm can shine green under the light, and Japanese emperors, queen of England, French nobles and some rich countries are eager to use wild silkworm as decoration on ties and bow ties, and silk can show luxury and elegance in a few days. Natural silk is priceless, and it is called a green soft gem that is better than gold. A cultural relic unearthed in Mawangdui, Western Han Dynasty, which is imitated by natural silk cicada yarn. The wild silkworm grows on oak trees in the forest near rivers and lakes. The woodland here is wet and the weeds are lush, which is very suitable for the living environment of wild silkworm. Every July and August, the silkworm moth lays its eggs on the branches of the oak tree, and then the eggs fall into the grass under the tree with the wind and rain, covered by dead leaves of the soil, and the eggs overwinter under the protection of this environment. In the second year, when the oak tree grows green branches and leaves, young silkworms hatch from eggs and climb to the oak tree to eat oak leaves. After about 40 days of growth, they make cocoons. The wild silkworm is most afraid of drought during its growth, and once it is dry, parasitic snails will occur. Young oak leaves with parasitic snail eggs will corrode and rot. If the woodland is short of dirt or airtight, the silkworm eggs will freeze to death in winter if they can't be covered by dead leaves. Therefore, the wild silkworm is strict with the living environment, otherwise it will not survive. There are few countries that produce wild silkworm in the world today. However, only a few tussah forests in Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces in China have wild silkworms, and Ning 'an is the breeding base of wild silkworms. Thirty years ago, people in Ning 'an discovered something dark green and oval in oak leaf forest beside Jingbo Lake. According to expert identification, this thing is wild silkworm. In 1982, Xinhua News Agency published a photo of wild silkworm taken by He Zongyue in Heilongjiang Province in Half Moon Talk, which attracted worldwide attention. Every wheat harvest season, men, women and children in Ning 'an flock to the Woods near the lake to collect wild silkworms. The relevant departments in the province also made a special trip to Ning 'an to buy wild silkworm, and to process and make silk.
