Daqing Datong Banlangen

Our region is located in the central and western part of Songnen Plain, close to the Songhua River, with a geographical location of 46 north latitude, belonging to a temperate continental monsoon climate with a large temperature difference between day and night. Historically, it is the main producing area of dozens of Chinese herbal medicines such as wild Saposhnikovia divaricata, licorice, Bupleurum and Astragalus. The Chinese herbal medicines planted in Xinglongquan Medicinal Plant have a long-standing reputation and were exported to Japan in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1989, a "busybody" in Bajingzi Township introduced 10 mu of Radix Isatidis, which produced more than 200 kilograms per mu. It was very successful, but it didn't develop. In 1998, Zhusanxiang leaders organized farmers to plant 100 mu of Radix Isatidis, which was purchased by Zhaoyuan Medicinal Materials Company. Each mu of Radix Isatidis earned in 300 yuan, which was better than planting corn. In the next two years, Radix Isatidis developed rapidly in Gaotaizi Town, Bajingzi Township and other places. By 2000, the planting area in the whole region reached 10,000 mu, and Daqing Datong Radix Isatidis was a geographical indication certification trademark.
