Baoqing adzuki bean, a specialty of Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province, has suitable planting conditions and a long planting history. Its products are large in grain, thin in skin, delicious, bright in color, high in bean paste and excellent in quality. They are sold to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Europe and all over the world. The "Baohonghong" adzuki bean brand registered in this county is the only high-quality brand of adzuki bean in Heilongjiang Province and one of the three famous adzuki bean brands in China. It has won the title of top ten famous agricultural products in Heilongjiang Province and the well-known prize in the International Agricultural Expo, and has been awarded the EU organic food certificate for seven consecutive years, and has been listed as a "protected product of origin" by the state. In 2000, Baoqing County was named "the hometown of adzuki beans in China" by China Food Industry Association. On July 6, 2005, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine examined and approved the protection of geographical indication products for Baoqing adzuki beans. Production situation Baoqing County is located in the east of Heilongjiang Province, in the hinterland of Sanjiang Plain. The fertile soil and unique climatic conditions here are suitable for adzuki bean planting. Baoqing adzuki bean has a long history of planting. Since the 21st century, Baoqing County has made great efforts to cultivate the high-quality brand of "Baoqinghong" adzuki bean. By adopting a series of measures such as "four specialties, five unification and six households", the regionality, unity, high quality and efficiency of adzuki beans have been strengthened, the green, organic and brand effects of products have been enhanced, and the market influence and competitiveness of "Bao Qing Hong" have been increased. After breeding and cultivation, "Baohonghong" adzuki bean has formed its own distinctive product characteristics: large grain, thin skin, delicious taste, bright color, high content of bean paste and excellent quality. According to statistics, as of 2008, Baoqing County had developed adzuki beans with a maximum area of 250,000 mu, so it won the reputation of "China adzuki bean hometown", and most of its 60,000 tons/year adzuki beans were sold to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Europe and all over the world. Protection of Geographical Indication Products According to the Provisions on the Protection of Geographical Indication Products, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine organized a review of the application for the protection of geographical indication products of Baoqing adzuki bean. After passing the examination, it is approved to protect the geographical indication products of Baoqing adzuki bean from now on. Scope of Protection The scope of protection of geographical indication products of Baoqing adzuki bean is subject to the scope proposed in the Letter on Defining the Protection Scope of Products of Baoqing adzuki bean's Origin Region (Bao Zheng Ban Fa [2004] No.18) issued by People of Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province, and it is the administrative area under the jurisdiction of Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province.
