Naoli River Mao Cong

"Naoli River Mao Cong" is a special vegetable in Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province. Mao Cong has been planted in Baoqing County for nearly a hundred years. The superior ecological environment, unique geographical features and suitable climatic conditions in the county have formed the excellent quality and obvious regional characteristics of Mao Cong. Tillering onion and bulbul onion, which are scientifically known in Mao Cong, can be eaten fresh and fried, and can also be processed into dehydrated dried vegetables and condiments. They have the effects of softening blood vessels and lowering cholesterol, and can also prevent and treat dysentery, enteritis, whooping cough and other diseases. Industrial Development "Naoli River" Mao Cong cultivation in Baoqing County has become a key industry in the adjustment of industrial structure and the development of characteristic agriculture. In 1999, the Gem River Mao Cong Association was established, gradually forming a large-scale planting. In December 2006, it was approved as a national geographical indication protection product. In order to maintain the excellent quality of Naoli River Mao Cong and improve the yield and benefit, according to the needs of farmers and the market, Baoqing County, together with Mao Cong associations and organizations, formulated local standards in Heilongjiang Province, such as Mao Cong and Mao Cong Production Technical Regulations, emphasizing the adoption of measures such as crop rotation, cross-planting, carbendazim soaking, cleaning up sick plants and mastering the essentials of water and fertilizer application to reduce pests and diseases in Mao Cong, increase the yield, improve the quality and so on. Naoli River Mao Cong is exported to Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong and Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and other places in South Asia. In 2009, the planting area of Mao Cong in this county has reached 15,000 mu, with 20,000 tons of commercial onions, accounting for one-tenth of the national total output, and four-fifths of its total output, accounting for one-fifth of the national export volume. The output value of commercial onions is 30 million yuan, and Baoqing has become a veritable production base and planting technology export place in Mao Cong.
