"Banzifang Watermelon" is a national geographical indication protection product, mainly produced in Jixian County, Heilongjiang Province. Jixian County has a continental climate in the middle temperate zone, with a unique geographical environment, natural conditions and a long tradition of watermelon cultivation. The county held the "China Jixian" board house watermelon festival, which broadened the domestic market, and the "board house" watermelon was exported to more than 150 provinces and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Yangzhou and Hainan. In order to promote the development of watermelon industry, Jixian County set up an office to promote the industrialization of watermelon. In May 2002, it guided farmers to establish a watermelon association. In August 2006, it helped farmers to establish the largest watermelon trading wholesale market with 50,000 square meters of catering, accommodation, negotiation and transportation. Professional and technical personnel and equipment moved forward to the production base to help test soil and fertilize, formulate watermelon standards in board houses, and compile technical regulations for watermelon planting in board houses. Guide farmers to plant watermelons in strict accordance with the standardization, and implement the management mode of "three levels and three members", so that the previous decentralized, extensive and scale-free operation of planting watermelons will be transformed into the integrated management mode of "base+association+farmers+market". In order to solve the problem of low scientific and technological content in watermelon planting, Jixian county puts the support point of improving quality and increasing income on relying on scientific and technological progress. The idea of "optimizing planting varieties, adjusting planting methods and adjusting the time to market" was put forward. Actively promote the cultivation of new varieties with storage resistance and good preservation, such as "Super Red Treasure", "Qingfa No.9", "Xin Jing Series" and seedless watermelons. On the basis of learning advanced technology and experience from other places, technicians held training courses for farmers to plant watermelons, explained the new watermelon planting technology for melon farmers free of charge, and carried out mutual assistance activities in a timely manner, which quadrupled the economic benefits.
