Heilongjiang yellow chickens are mainly distributed in the vast rural areas in the suburbs of Qiqihar and state-owned farms in Nenjiang area. In recent years, it has expanded to Daxing 'anling and Bei 'an. There are only about 10,000 hens in the province. This kind of yellow chicken is both egg and meat. It was cultivated by Heilongjiang Institute of Livestock Research in 1965. Heilongjiang yellow chicken has the characteristics of cold resistance, roughage resistance, strong foraging ability, good egg laying performance and tender and delicious meat. This kind of chicken has a long body, a prominent chest and a developed hindquarters. Single cockscomb, with drooping crown and flesh, red face, white ears, yellow beak, shin and toes, pale yellow feathers and slightly darker cock color. Some chickens have chicken feathers on their necks, tails or whole bodies, and the tail ends are white. Heilongjiang yellow chicken has good egg laying performance.
