Yanbian apple pear belongs to Pak Lei system and is one of the excellent varieties of pears in China, which is produced in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province. In 2002, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine identified Yanbian Apple Pear as a geographical protection product, from which all the apples and pears in China originated. Yanbian apple pear has the characteristics of cold resistance, high yield, refreshing and sweet fruit, excellent quality and strong storage, and is known as the "beauty among pears in the north". The fruit of Yanbian Apple Pear is large, with a single fruit weight of about 250 grams, which can reach 800 grams at most. After storage, the peel turns yellow, and the fruit surface has a layer of waxy secretion, which makes the appearance more beautiful and the flavor more delicious. The flesh of Yanbian Apple Pear is white, fine, stone-free, crisp, slightly fragrant, small in core, juicy, and the edible part accounts for 85.9%, which is of high quality. The fruit contains 13.4% soluble solids, 9.69% sugar, 0.2914 g malic acid in 1 ml fruit juice and C6.3 mg vitamin C in 100 g fresh fruit. Yanbian Apple Pear has a native area of 12,000 hectares and an annual output of 100,000 tons, which has become a pillar industry in rural areas of Yanbian. Apple and pear ranked first in the national fruit appraisal in 1989, and the excellent product of the Ministry of Agriculture has been recognized as "green food" by the state since 1990.
