Deer tendon is the tendon of sika deer or red deer in Cervidae, which has been used for medicine for nearly a thousand years and first appeared in Tang Herbal Medicine. The dried deer tendon is slender, golden or brown, shiny and transparent, about 45-65 cm long and 1.5-2 cm in diameter. The upper end is fleshy, and the lower part has two semicircular black hoof nails, and some have four small hoof bones; The toenails are slightly skinned and have short brown or light brown hair. Tough, slightly fishy. It is better to be dry, long, thick and golden yellow. Changbai Mountain in the east and Doushan Mountain in the middle of Jilin Province are the main producing areas of sika deer and red deer in China. It can be harvested all year round. Take the deer's limbs, pull out the tendons, keep the hoof nails, and dry them in the shade. When processing, chop off the hoof nail, wash it with warm water, bake it with charcoal fire until soft, and cut it into small pieces.
