In September, 2010, Huludao pyrography gourd, painted gourd and acupuncture gourd, once outstanding representatives of handicrafts in Liaoning Province, were exhibited at the Shanghai World Expo, making them shine brilliantly, which made Chinese and foreign tourists fondle them. In order to protect the brand of Huludao gourd pyrography, maintain the reputation of gourd pyrography and promote the development of gourd culture industry, the Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce and the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Broadcasting vigorously implemented the strategy of "revitalizing the city with trademarks" and actively promoted the registration of geographical indications of gourd pyrography on the basis of investigation and demonstration. On January 20th, the State Trademark Office announced that "Huludao gourd pyrography" was officially approved as a geographical indication certification trademark. Huludao gourd pyrography is a geographical indication certification trademark.
