Lingyuan is the birthplace of Chinese civilization and the hometown of Hongshan Goddess, named after the source of Daling River. Lingyuan shadow play is not only a local art loved by urban and rural people in this city, but also spread to black, Kyrgyzstan, Hebei, Mongolia and other areas outside the province through years of economic exchanges, population migration, shadow play classes and mobile performances by shadow play artists, and it is deeply loved by people from other places. At present, Lingyuan still has 23 photo boxes and more than 150 shadow puppeteers. They not only perform in this city, but also perform in neighboring Hebei and Inner Mongolia, which enriches the cultural life of the masses and promotes artistic exchanges. As early as 1979, Lingyuan Shadow Play Troupe participated in the first shadow play in Chaoyang City, and the modern drama "Double Happiness at the Gate" and the fairy tale drama "Legend of the White Snake" won the first prize. In 1991, he participated in the first shadow play in Liaoning Province and won the first prize by performing the traditional play "Flame Mountain". In 1994, he participated in the provincial performance, and the modern drama "Hong Sao" won the second prize; In 1998, he participated in the third shadow play in the province, and the traditional opera "Red Lotus in addition to tyrants" won the first prize. In 1998, the Mid-Autumn Festival was a special performance for seven foreign guests, including Egypt and Russia, who came to Chaoyang to participate in the "One Exhibition, One Meeting", which was well received by foreign friends. In recent years, in order to carry forward the excellent national and folk culture, excavate, rescue and sort out the folk art heritage, lingyuan city Cultural Center began to collect and sort out the shadow plays in northern China in 1988. After more than ten years' efforts, we have collected 3300 volumes of traditional and modern movies, reaching 34 million words. It has accumulated a lot of valuable materials for Chinese folk art, and its quantity and neatness are the first in the country. In 1992, Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture named Lingyuan as "the hometown of shadow play art". In 1996, the Ministry of Culture named Lingyuan as "the hometown of folk shadow play art in China". In 1999, Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture allocated special funds to assist Lingyuan to establish Lingyuan Shadow Play Art Garden, which integrates the art of shadow play sculpture, achievements, volume collection and singing operation, making the construction of Lingyuan Shadow Play Base reach a new level. We have reason to believe that Lingyuan shadow play art will surely go out of China and enjoy a world-famous reputation in the dawn of the new century.
