Changtu black pig, also known as Liaoning black pig Changtu type, was bred by crossing local sows with Berkshire boars imported from Britain in the 1940s. In 1979, the province determined that there were five groups of systematic breeding in Sanhe pig farm in Changtu County, including Chang× Black and Su× Black pigs. Among them, the Changx Black Group was officially listed as Liaoning Black Pig System through breeding and identification in 1984. It is mainly distributed in 7 townships such as Bamiancheng, Qujia, Ping 'an and Dawa in Changtu County. At present, Changtu Black Pig has spread all over 27 cities and counties such as Tieling, Haicheng, Yingkou and Lishu. Changtu black pig is black all over, which belongs to the meat and fat dual-purpose type. Adult boars generally weigh 220 kg and adult sows weigh 150 kg. Its main characteristics are: fast growth and high feeding efficiency. Because it has the advantages of strong adaptability, roughage resistance, cold resistance and disease resistance, under the condition of extensive feeding in rural areas, the average daily weight gain during fattening period is 606 grams, and the ratio of feed to meat is 3.7: 1. Under the condition of good feeding level, the daily weight gain is obvious. Strong reproductive ability and good lactation performance. Changtu black pig sows have more than 7 pairs of nipples, with an average of more than 12 litters and more than 10 surviving. Piglets gain weight quickly and have a low disease rate. High slaughter rate and good meat quality. The slaughter rate at 100 kg is about 70%. The carcass lean meat rate is 52%, and the meat quality is fresh. In 1985, it was designated as a lean pig base county by the state. Changtu Black Pig is a geographical indication certification trademark.
